Gunner Kim Ian MacCunn, 4th Regiment Royal Artillery

Remembering the Fallen:  on this day in 1974, Gunner Kim Ian MacCunn, 4th Regiment Royal Artillery, was killed in Northern Ireland.

Gunner MacCunn’s father had been a major in the Cameronians and his mother had been a member of the W.R.A.C..  He had just graduated from the Junior Leaders’ Regiment and was on his first tour of duty in Northern Ireland.  Gunner MacCunn had been on patrol when they came under fire from IRA gunmen at the junction of the Antrim Road and New Lodge Road.  He took cover but was shot in the back and died twenty minutes later. 

Kim, from Roundhay, Leeds, was 18 years old.
