Boxing hero Ricky Hatton training Phil Campion SAS team for charity fights against American special forces

October 6, 2017

On November 11 the brave military men will fight to raise vital cash for a long list of worthy causes

BOXING hero Ricky Hatton is training a squad of former SAS troops to face-off against US ex-special forces in a charity show. The elite boxing bout - dubbed the Remembrance Rumble - will raise vital charity cash for a host of military causes.

The event is the brainchild of former D squadron fighter Big Phil Campion, 48, who took part in the SAS raid in Sierra Leone in 2000 to liberate Brit soldiers held by brutal militia gang the West Side Boys.

The British team is preparing for the bout by training with former light-welterweight champ Hatton at his £2million Manchester boxing school.

Ahead of the November 11 show, Campion said: "Remembrance Rumble is set to shake the York Hall to its core.

"The ex-SAS boxing team has waited all year to get their hands on the American special forces who this year have several new additions to their team.

"This year Ollie Ollerton will be the first operator to go headlong into battle for Queen and country."

One of the organisers Demi Barnard added: "It's a fantastic even for a fantastic cause.

“We held it for the first time last year and we sold out, we raised tens of thousands for charity.

"The majority of the people who come along are ex service personnel themselves, we are one big family.

"But we would encourage as many people as possible to come along, it is a brilliant night out."
