Remembering the Fallen: on this day in 1997, Lieutenant Robert Alexander Hudswell, Royal Logistic Corps, died in service.

He attended Dereham 6th Form College, and being a keen sportsman he played cricket for Dereham Cricket Club. Joining the A.T.C. he attained the rank of Flight Sergeant before attending the Royal Military Academy at Sandhurst. Lieutenant Hudswell was commissioned into the Royal Logistic Corps in 1994, the fifth generation of his family to have served in the army, with both his great-grandfather and great-uncle having been killed in action in the second world war.

Lieutenant Hudswell served in Northern Ireland as a platoon commander, attached to an infantry battalion; he also served in Bosnia, and with the United Nations in Angola. He is remembered as a noble and brave man.

Robert, born in Chatham in Kent, was 23 years old.

Thank you for posting this remembrance. Bob was one of my closest friends at school and we were in the ATC together. We lost touch when he joined the army. I still remember the day when I heard he died. I occasionally think of him and can’t believe he’s gone. May you rest in peace, Bob.
